Good Weekend for seeing wildlife

went out to the woods this weekend to find deer, and while i didn't manage to get anything (missed the one good shot i had), i did get in some great viewing. Saturday got to see a big bull moose walk right past the stand we had been in earlier. The Moose was tall enough to look into the elevated stand (darn good thing we weren't in the stand at the time). Sunday got to see a bull moose again, and had a grouse land in a tree right outside the stand, and a young bald eagle that flew right past. And got to spend lots of time walking through the tall prairie grass, woods, and cattail swamps, all in all a great weekend

Stumped

looks like I've managed to stump the dealership. The vehicle is in the shop for the 7th time for engine misfires. Dropped off this morning at 7, and by 2:30 they have no idea what is causing it. They know that it is happening, the trouble code has been recorded as proof but they are unable to reproduce it to know what is causing the problem. In the past they have replaced injectors, cleaned injectors, replaced nicked wires, replaced all the exhaust valve springs in the engine yet the problem still continues. So they are going to keep it overnight and keep working on it to try and find the solution. at least this time they gave me a loaner vehicle while they work on it.

Close Call

Aug. 22nd, 2007 | 12:12 pm

at practice last night Sir tom and i are talking near the picnic table, its dark, and we suddenly hear something large moving in the tree right above me. I look up to try and see what it might be (perhaps the largest squirrel this side of the mississippi), and then hear Sir Tom start saying move...Move...MOVE.....
yeah, not a squirrel, but a nice large branch that decided to come crashing down. would have missed me if i hadn't moved, but the more distance between me and large, rotten, falling branch, the better.

better news on car

I called Subaru of america on tuesday to inquire about a possible warranty on the head gasket repair that the car needs, and in 2 days, with no other proding from me, they approved the $1200 repair to be done under warranty. It will take most of next week to get that and the other repairs that were on hold to be all done, but for a $1200 savings i'm not argueing at all, downright relieved to not have to fund that repair.

sigh........

Car fun
Bring in for a major service interval, lots of little things to check out and make sure are running properly, and have them check out a couple of other items (smelling burned oil, check engine light goes on and off)

Check engine light is a warranty covered issue for catalytic converter, no cost to us...YEAH

oil smell is a leaking front axle that needs to be replaced, couple of hundred bucks, ok, can deal with that

then SURPRISE....the oil leak that we had them checking before on previous visits and came back as no trouble found, has returned, in the form of a leaking headgasket....ouch...time to do some research before this one breaks the bank at $1200 to $1600 for the repair
